History of Fournier RF2 Airplane

Some FOURNIER Aircraft Flight Manuals PDF above the page.

Fournier RF-3 is a single-seater which was designed by René Fournier and mass-produced by Société Alpavia.

This single-seater, a low-wing monoplane and a single-track train built in wood, was itself the evolution of René Fournier's first plane, the Fournier RF-1.

Two examples were built by the company of Avions Pierre Robin, in Dijon, with the financial support of the French administration, the F-BJSR (c / n 01) and the F-BJSY (c / n 02).

The latter served as a prototype for the RF-3 model.

One of them is stored at the Air and Space Museum at Le Bourget, the other is still in service at the private flying club of La Tranclière in the Ain.

The construction of the RF-2 having been delayed at Avions Pierre Robin, too busy producing the JodelsRené Fournier created in association with the Count of Assche the company Alpavia in Gap in the Hautes Alpes.

In the meantime the power glider had undergone improvements and the seed, renamed RF-3, made its first flight on. Alpavia will produce 88 copies until 1966.

In 1965 the French Gérard Pic set an altitude record, propeller set, in the Pyrenees wave (11,200 m) on RF-3.
