History of Socata Aircraft

Some DAHER-SOCATA Aircraft Flight Manuals PDF above the page.

The history of the company dates back to 1911 and Morane-Saulnier, which created many beautiful aircraft.

In 1966, the company was renamed SOCATA and sold to the Sud Aviation concern, which specializes in the production of passenger liners.

The name SOCATA is a French acronym for Aircraft Design Campaign for Tourism and Work.

The purpose of this agreement was precisely, using the accumulated experience of Morane-Saulnier and the management and investments of Sud Aviation, to establish the production of light aircraft, which, apparently, was in demand in Europe.

In 2000, Socata became a subsidiary of the European aerospace and defense concern EADS.

In 2008, 70% was bought by the DAHER concern. So the campaign is now called Daher-Socata.

Currently DAHER-SOCATA produces only one aircraft model - TBM 850.

But in 1958 the engineers of the Morane-Saulnier company managed to create the rather popular Rallye aircraft.

It was so lucky that several modifications were made to it. Probably it was from there, since 1966, that the history of the project of a universal platform for the TB aircraft line began.

First, they created the base model TB-10, with a Lycoming O-320 engine and received a French certificate. As a result, however, the aircraft was produced only with the O-360 engine.

But they decided to put the 320 on the younger model, released a little later, TB-9. The latest release was the TB-20 with retractable landing gear with the most advanced avionics and the IO-540 engine.
