Republic Aircraft History

REPUBLIC Aircraft Pilot's Manual PDF is above the page.

Republic Aviation is a former U.S. aircraft manufacturing corporation. Headquartered in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York.

It was originally founded in 1931 as the aircraft manufacturer Seversky Aircraft Company, a famous pilot who emigrated from Russia in 1918 Seversky.

However, in 1939 it was reorganized and received a new name - Republic Aviation Corporation.

The company employed many Russian and Georgian emigrants, including lead designer A.M. Kartveli.

The most famous developments of the company were P-47 Thunderbolt, F-84 Thunderjet and F-105 Thunderchief, created by Alexander Kartveli.

Participated in the X-15 rocket plan creation program with Bell Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas and North American Aviation.

In the early 1960s, Fairchild Aircraft by Sherman Fairchild began to buy shares in the company.

The takeover was completed in July-September 1965, but the Republic company name system in the form of the Thunder prefix continued to live in the new company - Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II.
