History of Cirrus Aircraft

Some CIRRUS Aircraft Flight Manuals PDF above the page.

Founded by Alan and Dale Clapmeyer in 1984, Cirrus Aircraft produced the best-selling aircraft on the planet just six years later. Their five generations of Cirrus SR20s and SR22s roam the skies in more than twenty countries.

Cirrus's success story began with the General Aviation Revitalization Act, which became law after being signed by President Bill Clinton in 1994.

The document protected small aircraft manufacturers from liability in the event of accidents involving aircraft over eighteen years of age.

The effect was not long in coming - even the number of private pilots has doubled after young people have left this profession over the past few years.

Of course, the rules of the game haven't changed much for companies like Cessna or Piper, but it has allowed new players to enter the market thanks to the increased demand.

It was difficult for beginners to compete with large competitors and they entered into battle with experimental models that were very different from those that were before.

This is how, for example, Lancair appeared, later certified by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and Cirrus in Duluth (Minnesota, USA).

On February 28, 2011, the Chinese company Caiga (China Aviation Industry General Aircraft) announced its desire to buy Cirrus for $ 210 million.

The US government expressed concern about the leakage of technology from the country, but did not actively oppose the sale and Cirrus became the property of a Chinese light aircraft manufacturer.

Immediately after the agreement was signed, the director of Brent Wouters commented on the situation: “We are delighted to have joined forces with Caiga.

We now have the resources to accelerate the development of new projects and expansion into the global market.”

The most important "boost" project was the Cirrus Vision SF50 single-engine jet, as the Chinese considered the VLJ (Ultralight Jets) category to be the key to the future development of the Cirrus.

Now the plane can be bought for $ 1.72 million, but the delivery time will be about three years.
