Renamed Taylor Brothers Aircraft Corporation in April 1928, shortly before his death in a plane crash, Gordon Taylor.

Moved to Bradford, PA due to the promise of a local businessman, oil owner William Thomas Piper, to make significant investments in the company. The move ended in 1929.

In 1930, the company declared bankruptcy and was bought back by William Thomas Piper for $ 761.

He reorganized her into Taylor Aircraft Company, taking the position of secretary-referent, and Clarence Taylor remained president. William T. Piper emphasized the production of easy-to-fly cheap private jets, for which he received the nickname "Henry Ford in Aviation."

Since November 1937, the company became known as Piper Aircraft Corporation.

During WW2 and in subsequent years, production capacities in Lock Haven became short of and in 1955 the corporation partially moved to Viro Beach, Florida, where Piper Cherokee aircraft were already manufactured.

The company was re-branded and became known as New Piper Aircraft.

In July 2003, American Capital Strategies acquired a 94% stake in the company.

In August 2006, the company changed its name again, dropping “New” and again became Piper Aircraft. Also this month, the company announced the start of a partnership with Honda to sell a HondaJet.

On May 1, 2009, American Capital Strategies sold shares of Piper Aircraft to Singapore's investment company Imprimis for $ 31 million.

The management of Piper Aircraft hopes that this will lead to an expansion of the company's share in the Asian market.

In July 2009, Kevin Gould became executive director in place of James Bass. On December 1, 2009, Kevin Gould also became the president of the company, replacing John Baker.

On January 4, 2010, a Boeing subsidiary, Aviall, became the sole distributor of Piper parts.
