Embraer S.A. is one of the largest aerospace conglomerates in the world, the 3-rd after Airbus and Boeing. The company is responsible for the production of both military and civil aircraft.
The latter, in turn, are represented by rather successful medium-haul passenger models and business jets. Embraer S.A. history began with a decision by the Brazilian government to develop its own aircraft industry in the 1940s.
At the same time, the first investments in the industry were made. However, the state-owned enterprise Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica (Embraer) appeared only in 1969.
The initial growth of the newly-minted manufacturer was driven by government investments and government orders for the supply of passenger and military aircraft, as well as the production of light Piper Aircraft gliders under license.
The company was founded in 1969, and the founder is a retired major of the Brazilian Air Force, Ozires Silva, who was the executive director of Embraer from 1969 to 1986, and then from 1991 to 1994.
However, in December 1994, the state-owned company was privatized, which, in fact, helped it avoid possible bankruptcy.
From that moment on, Embraer began to shift its focus from the production of military aircraft towards commercial small aircraft.
The product line is gradually expanding and includes medium-haul passenger aircraft with 70-110 seats.
Silva was succeeded by Mauricio Botelho. In this position in 2007, he was succeeded by Frederico Curado, under whose leadership the company achieved the most outstanding success in its history.
Embraer currently supplies its aircraft to over 90 countries around the world. It has over 5,000 commercial, military and administrative courts.
The company is considered to be the third largest aircraft conglomerate after Boeing and Airbus.
2018 was no less successful and promising for the conglomerate. Thus, the launch of a new line of business jets Praetor 500 and Praetor 600 was announced.
It also announced a joint venture with Boeing, which appears to be a response to the merger of Airbus and Bombardier C Series a year earlier.
Embraer has long evolved from a local manufacturer controlled by the state into a full-fledged player in the global aircraft manufacturing market.
The company's production facilities are located in Brazil, China, USA, Netherlands, Singapore and Portugal.
